Here at Dunlow Mechanical, we want to help you stay cool this summer, and to do that, we provide a comprehensive range of air conditioning services to keep your system in good working order. In the event that your system breaks down, we will make every effort to get your system up and running again as soon as possible, but there is a chance that it could take us a few days to finish the job. To help you stay comfortable during that time, here are a few tips on how to keep cool until your air conditioning is working properly once more.

How to Stay Cool When Your Air Conditioning Fails

  • Close Your Blinds. To keep your home cool while you wait for air conditioning repairs to be completed, we recommend closing your blinds or otherwise covering your windows during the day. This helps block out the sun’s rays and prevents your indoor temperature from rising as much.
  • Avoid Using the Stove or Oven. While you wait for your air conditioning to be repaired, you should avoid using the stove or oven more than absolutely necessary, as these appliances will raise the temperature of your kitchen and add to your discomfort. Instead, stick to foods that can be microwaved, cooked in appliance like a slow cooker, or eaten at room temperature, or you can cook outdoors on the grill.
  • Drink Water. As long as your air conditioning is out of commission, you are going to be sweating a lot, so it’s important to drink plenty of water to stay hydrated. While sweat can make you feel gross and uncomfortable, it is your body’s way to keep you cool—as your sweat evaporates, it pulls the heat away from your skin to prevent you from overheating.
